The city government here, led by mayor Albert D. Chua and vice mayor Jeffrey Jubal Nalupta, distributed 14,818 bags of fertilizers to the city’s farmers. Mr. Chua said they gave farmers 2 bags each of urea and complete fertilizers. He added that this is in line with the city’s full agricultural development in the countryside project. He, however, stressed that they still advised farmers to use organic fertilizers. Funding for the fertilizer purchase came from the city’s RA 7171 [Tobacco Excise tax] share. Aside from the fertilizers, the city government also began distributing farm machineries to all farmers’ groups in the city. The machineries included tractors, threshers, water pumps, irrigation hoses, and hand-tractors.
