The 210 years of commemoration lauds the hardship of Filipinos, especially Piddigeños, in their fight for freedom as they began their revolt on September 16, 1807. The Spaniards prohibition of the production and sale of the sugarcane wine called “basi” brought about the revolution. The battle caused much suppression of their way of life and the loss of their livelihood.
