Outstanding yellow corn growers in the province shall be given corn seeds subsidy courtesy of the Ilocos Norte government. With a budget allocation of PHP200,000 from the 20% development fund, corn farmers who are performing well in the production of yellow corn from the top 10 producing cities and municipalities here will be given an incentive in the form of corn seeds as production inputs. Instead of allocating the same amount as corn production loan input assistance to farmers, Ilocos Norte provincial agriculture officer Norma Lagmay requested that these should be given as planting materials to selected corn farmers who contribute more in achieving food security.
