Judge Francisco Quilala of the Regional Trial Court Branch 14 here in Laoag City convicted Efren Alagao for the 2007 killing of former Laoag City Sangguniang Panlungsod member Atty. Jose Antonio “Pepoc” Pastor on November 24. Alagao was a former bodyguard of current Laoag Mayor Michael V. Fariñas. In an 18-page decision, the court relied on an eyewitness account that positively identified Alagao pointing his gun and shooting the victim inside his law office on December 18, 2007. Alagao, after proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt for the killing of Pastor was sentenced to 10-17 years in prison and ordered to pay at least P125,000 in damages.
