Responding to an allegation that Ilocos Norte governor Ma. Imelda Josefa “Imee” R. Marcos allegedly misused about PHP66.5 million funds from the tobacco excise tax, Atty. Joseph Cadiz, the governor’s legal said “the accusations drawn are irresponsible” and it is too early for politics. Mr. Cadiz is apparently referring to the statement of Majority Leader Rep. Rodolfo “Rudy” C. Fariñas, accusing the governor of being behind the purchase of 70 mini-trucks amounting to PHP66.45 million by the provincial government from 2011 and 2012 without proper bidding.
