Tricycle and calesa operators and drivers in Laoag may now be very happy after the implementation of the regular fare hike from P8 to P11 in the city, but parents and ordinary workers are considering this as a big burden imposed upon them. Laoag councilor Mariolito J. Carag, chairperson of the council’s transportation committee and main sponsor of the fare hike measure, said the ordinance took effect and full implementation has begun starting June 6—the same date of the start of classes for school year 2011-12.
