BATAC, ILOCOS NORTE—Will local residents here say goodbye to their cityhood status after the Supreme Court denied a motion for reconsideration of its earlier decision to strip the cityhood status of several newly converted cities, including this city?
On March 31, Supreme Court denied the motion for reconsideration filed by the newly converted cities with a vote of 6-5, affirming their ruling in November last year.
While Batac officials have yet to issue an official statement on the matter, THE ILOCOS TIMES learned that their lawyers are still seeking possible remedies and further appeal before the High Court.
