Leading the way in terms of rice sufficiency, the province of Ilocos Norte along with nine rice-producing provinces in the country will receive ₱4 million each for winning the 2013 Agri-Pinoy Rice Achiever’s Award. Ilocos Norte has won as one of the top 10 rice-producing communities nationwide, surpassing the province rice production target with an excess of 183 percent.
Aslo, Laoag City and vintar, along with 12 extension workers in the province led by Mrs. Norma Lagmay will receive ₱1 million each for the city and municipal category and ₱20,000 for the individual outstanding extension workers for topping the nationwide search.
