AFTER BEING the first in Southeast Asia to host a wind farm, Ilocos Norte is set to become a biodiesel producer in the province as Japanese investors have signified their intent to develop more coconut farms and biodiesel plants in Northern Philippines.
If plans don’t miscarry, Rep. Roque R. Ablan Jr. (1st district, Ilocos Norte), said on June 24 that the Pacific Bio-Fields Holdings, Inc., a leading coconut biodiesel producer in Japan and the Philippines has allotted an initial P3.5 billion for massive planting of coconut trees in government-owned plants.
