Japanese Ambassador Ryuichiro Yamazaki made a short visit to the province on June 2 to personally inspect the Japanese-assisted-Laoag River Basin Flood Control and SABO Dam project. Prior to his visit to the project site, the ambassador made a stop at the Provincial Capitol and paid a courtesy call to Vice-Governor Windell Chua, who was then the acting Governor.
