Archaeologists from the National Museum conducted a preliminary excavation on two sections inside and outside the St. Augustine Church in Paoay, which is one of the Philippine sites inscribed in the World Heritage List. Below the church’s floor were found seven human skulls and assorted human bones. Other artifacts included pieces of local pottery and a plate shard that could be traced back to the Yuan period, or sometime in the 13th-14th century A.D.
