Solsona – 82 pieces of alleged illegally cut Narra tree abandoned along barangay road of sitio Cabatakan at Brgy. Sta. Ana, is discovered on January 5. The DENR forest rangers said the illegally cut logs have total of 1,384.3 board feet and a market value of ₱131,492.25.

Currimao – About 1,281 indigenous trees including 52 saplings are going to be sacrificed to give way for the installation of a 20-megawatt Currimao solar project – MIRAE Asia Energy Corporation at Brgy. Bimmanga, Currimao, Ilocos Norte. The power project covers about 60 hectares of timberland.

A Taiwanese fishing boat with a cargo of about 2,000 boxes of imported cigarettes underwent a thorough inspection on Nov. 25 after it was impounded by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at the port of Currimao in this province.

Pagudpud – Firmly establishing Ilocos Norte as the renewable energy capital of the country, the 81-megawatt Pagudpud wind farm, the first and largest investmetn so far of the North Luzon Renewable Energy Corporation opened on Nove. 19 in Brgy.
