Talks about the opening of a satellite office for the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Ilocos Norte remain uncertain yet due to lack of personnel. With an all-time high demand for passporting services, Ilocanos in this northern part of Luzon has been wishing for an accessible location to avoid long travels and long queues to process their passport. But according to Lizette Ann Bitancor of the Provincial Employment and Services Office (PESO), the DFA is presently undermanned and there is no definite schedule yet to open the planned DFA Ilocos.
