The on-going rehabilitation of a 4.9-kilometer Nalasin-Sungadan-Langiden farm-to-market (FMR) road in this water catchment basin town of Ilocos Norte is seen to boost economic livelihood here by at least 20 percent once completed. Worth PHP67,330,338.99, the project is under the World Bank-supported Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) with 10 percent counterpart each from the Department of Agriculture and the local government unit of Paoay. The FMR is expected to benefit at least eight interior Paoay barangays, covering around 2,460 hectares with a population of 9,537. Last month, representatives from the World Bank, DA and local government unit here conducted a walkthrough at the project site, which is now about 12 percent completed.
