EMPHASIZING the importance of access to higher education, Ilocos Norte governor Ma. Imelda Josefa “Imee” R. Marcos announced that the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) will seek to provide free college education for Ilocano youth. The governor revealed that PGIN, together with Mariano Marcos State University, will shoulder an estimated P30 million worth of school fees for less fortunate students. Recently, INYO opened 5,000 slots for the ‘Asikaso ni Manang Imee Tuition-for-work Program’ which aims to provide financial assistance to students whose families were affected by super typhoon “Lawin”. More than 200 private college students, mostly children of farmers and fisher folks,  received P5,000.00 financial assistance.
