Magnitude 5.0 earthquake rocked the province of Ilocos Norte at 8:56 pm on July 5 with epicenter located at 6 kilometers southeast of Batac City and a depth of 40 kilometers. An aftershock of magnitude 4.3 was felt at 9:12 pm, located 2 kilometers northwest of Marcos town, prompting some of people to go out of their houses amid “Egay” typhoon signal No.2 still up in the province.
