Carasi – If host communities believed that mining is a cure to poverty, think again, as only they can make it happen. Lawyer Jessie Agbayani of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples told participants in a recent mining forum held at the session hall of the Municipality of Carasi on May 15 that mining is not a solution to poverty unless people concerned – both mining companies and host communities ensure equal sharing of profit derived from mining operation.
