Himala sa Buhangin. Leeroy New’s Chrysalis, a ship-like art installation at the sand dunes of Paoay is seen with the waning moon during the “Himala sa Buhangin” music and arts fest organized by the province of Ilocos Norte last May 10. The 40-feet high structure is made entirely of bamboo and abaca rope and is inspired by the ship that brought the statue of La Virgen Milagrosa to Ilocos Norte in the 17th century. La Milagrosa is the patroness of the province of Ilocos Norte and is now widely celebrated in the first provincial fiesta held May 2-14.
