The Sangguniang Panlalawigan has ordered the suspension of two municipal mayors in two separate resolutions. Ordered preventively suspended for 90 days was Adams Mayor Eric T. Bawingan after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan found the mayor guilty of misconduct and abuse of authority.
Pagudpud Mayor Matilde “Maja” Henson-Sales also faces a possible 60-day suspension following another resolution approved by the SP. This however would still need the approval and signature of Ilocos Norte Gov. Ma. Imelda “Imee” R. Marcos to become effective. Less than a year ago, Sales was also suspended for 60 days.
