PAGUDPUD, Ilocos Norte—Seaweed beds and the white sand shoreline of Pasaleng Bay turned silky black due to oil spill anew afte a local salvor failed to mitigate the incident due to lack of oil spill boom and oil dispersal equipment during the conduct of salvage operation of the ill-fated MV Nam Yang 8 which has been in Pagudpud for more than a year now. As a result, local fishermen and seaweed gatherers were temporarily prohibited from catching fish and gathering seaweed along the stretch of the affected area in Pasaleng Bay to avoid food poisoning.
